Benefits of Karela in treating diabetes are many as it helps to regulate the blood sugar level and also help the body to function normally. Karela is known to be quite effective in treating diabetes. Karela is also known as bitter melon or Momordica Charantia. This wonder herb grows well in places which are damp and wet. For best results the diabetic patient should include it in his diet on a regular basis. The juice of bitter melon should be taken as the first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. You can even use it in powdered form either by adding it to the food you eat or simply by taking it with water. Apart from this decoction can also be prepared by boiling chopped bitter guard in water is equally effective.

Because of its rich amount of vitamins and mineral along with polypeptide-P and oleanolic acid glycosides, it can reverse diabetes II if the cells have not been damaged beyond repair. I witnessed it with my own eyes, but you must be careful about hypo-glycemia so I would stop taking it after you hit 90, and you will! My friend was on insulin and metformin and I told her to get off both and she has never went back on and has been under 100 for over 1 month.
