Treating Common Cold Naturally

Treating common cold naturally is possible with the help of various kitchen ingredients. There are a number of home remedies for common cold available, which if used in the proper way can turn to be very effective. Common cold is basically symbolised by fever, sore throat, and headache. You may feel dizziness, lethargic at times.

There are a number of ways in which common cold can be treated at home itself instead of going to a doctor. The worst thing about common cold is that it may appear again and again after some time if in case you come in contact with someone who is having a cold. So you need to take extra precautions.

Common cold can be Treated with Lemon

The good thing about lemon is that it is effective in types of cold since Vitamin C is said to increase the body’s resistance. What you need to do is to squeeze one lemon in a glass of warm water, mix one teaspoon of honey to it and drink it. Try to do so twice a day and you will see the results for sure.

Yet another effective home remedy is to treat common cold with the help of Ginger. Take a few small pieces of ginger and boil them in water. Strain it and add a little sugar to it. Drink it when it is hot. This decoction has been found to be beneficial if used for a few days regularly.

You can also take a few pieces of carom seeds (ajwain), put them in a cloth and tie them. Try to inhale them as they will give relief to your nose which has been blocked due to common cold. You can also drink 3-4 teaspoons of onion juice with honey this too prevents severe cold. Honey is known to be quite effective in treating common cold. So you can also mix half teaspoon of cinnamon oil or cinnamon powder with one teaspoon of honey and drink it.

Some other Effective Methods

Gargling with salt also helps in providing relief to your choked throat. Do this three times a day. Goldenseal Herb has the property of acting as a natural antibody and so can be used in treating common cold.

Steam inhalation is known to reduce the congestion in the chest and so you can do this two to three times a day if you chest feels choked. Apart from this, you can also take a bath with warm water which too relieves all the congestion.
You can also make a paste of coriander seeds and jaggery, add some water to it. Boil this paste and inhale it. This too cures common cold.

Instead of jumping to the doctor’s clinic at the slight cold, it works best to treat it with the help of home remedies.
