Introduction to Infertility
Infertility is known by its capability to stop any pregnancy. In males, this condition is characterized by either anatomical problems or hormonal imbalance. When it comes to anatomical problems, there might be some sort of blockage in the part of the affected person that delivers the sperm out of the urethra. This may be due to constriction of the epididymis or due to compression brought by prostate enlargement. When it comes to the functional cause, males that experiences infertility might be suffering from hormonal imbalance. When the testosterone in particular is very low, it affects the development and maturation of competent sperms. There are several symptoms of infertility that you must be aware of. These are:
- Sexual Dysfunction
- Endocrine Dysfunction
- Varicocele
Sexual Dysfunction
The first symptom that you must be aware of is sexual dysfunction. When we say sexual dysfunction, this refers to the inability of males to get long and strong penile erection. Furthermore, this enables the affected male to do penetrative sex. As a result, this halts him to make women pregnant. Sexual dysfunction mostly goes hand in hand with decrease in drive for sex. The lack of urge for sex causes his penis to remain in non-erect state. Thus, this leads to impregnation of his partner.
Endocrine Dysfunction
The next sign of male infertility is dysfunction in his endocrine system. In cooperation with the nervous system, the endocrine system takes control of the sexual sensation of a certain individual. Endocrine system is composed of endocrine glands. These glands play important role in the production of hormones effective in regulating and in stimulating sexual drive of a specific person. When these glands are non-functional, one will experience decrease libido and decline in production of matured sperm cells. Thus, it may lead to male infertility.
Varicocele
Another sing of infertility is varicocele. This is a condition wherein there is enlargement of the spermatic cord. When this particular part of the reproductive system is enlarged, it may compress the pathway of the matured sperm cells during the ejaculation phase of sexual activity. This means that the ejected semen from the compromised individual does not have the right number of sperm cells. In other words, the semen ejected has low sperm count. As a result, this will not cause woman impregnation as well as male infertility.
