Teenage Acne Cures
The Do’s and Don’ts in Treating Acne
Acne has been attributed to many causes. The most popular of which is puberty and the hormones that go along with it. This is why a majority of teenagers find themselves battling the acne problem.
To help the teen and their parents win the battle over acne, here are a few do’s and don’ts in treating acne and finding the teenage acne cure
Many would agree that being in the teenage years is probably one of the most difficult and trying moments in one’s life. It is that period where one starts to ask questions and become aware of his or her environment, his or her self and the opposite sex. It is a period rampant with self-consciousness, rebellion and a need for acceptance. Unfortunately it is also the period where skin problems, especially acne, plague most teenagers. Such physical problem eventually causes more emotional problems such as low self-esteem and self-doubt which in turn causes one to stay away from potential friends and hampers one’s growth. But how does one exactly solve such a problem?
Causes of Teenage Acne
Before going into that, it is first good to know what really causes acne. Is it because of the excessive chocolates that you’ve been having? Is there something wrong in your body or may be your just plain unlucky. Many theories have been formulated to explain why one gets afflicted with acne. Some say it is because of the clogging of your pores caused by excessive oils and dead skin which causes an adverse reaction to your skin. Others think that it is because of the hormones that your body produces especially when puberty strikes. Still others think that it is caused by excessive stress or even something that you inherited and is in your genes. Whether one or all of these theories are the true cause of acne, everybody has one aim and that is to get rid of them.
Some Common Teenage Acne Cures
Probably the most common and easiest way to help prevent and even cure acne problems is good hygiene. It may seem simple enough but in reality it is not. Good hygiene entails just more than washing your face. It involves washing your hair often to prevent any dirt or oil in your hair to get transferred to your skin. It also involves washing your face twice a day, especially before going to bed and after an exercise. It is recommended that you stay away from facial scrubs with beads that may cause even more irritation to your skin. Just use a mild soap and don’t rub too hard. Also don’t prick or squeeze out your acne as this causes more problems and more acne. Remember to drink lots of water to help hydrate your body.
If this still does not work, you may choose to consult your dermatologist and ask for some ointment or maybe antibiotic to cure your acne. The most common ointments that they prescribe include benzoyl peroxide, topical cream antibiotics such as erythromycin or oxytetracycline. Drugs are also sometimes prescribed such as retinoids.
