If vomiting appears to be persistent for a long period of time, your body might lose the important nutrients that it needs, thus it can also be helpful to drink other fluids like sports drink to replenish the potassium and electrolytes that your body is losing because of vomiting. You can also take apple juice, weak tea, clear soda and bouillon.
The moment the vomiting stops, it can be safe to take soft foods after several hours. These may include applesauce, banana, mashed potatoes, saltine crackers, plain rice or pasta and toast.
